Arizona Cardinals player charged with felony in domestic case

A running back who plays for the Arizona Cardinals has been at the heart of a domestic violence investigation as of late, and the most recent development is that charges have been passed down. The football player has been charged with aggravated assault, and it is a class 4 felony.

Along with the felony charges, the running back faces eight different charges that classify as misdemeanors.

The charges are related to a pair of incidents, both of which took place back in July. The running back got into arguments with his wife on those occasions, and, in the first incident, he has been accused of striking her by head-butting her in the nose, fracturing it. This apparently happened after the two had been arguing about romantic advances that the man was making, and his wife had bitten him on the lip.

The argument was loud enough that the neighbors could hear that something was wrong, and one of them decided to call the police. The officers showed up, but the running back had -- as he has since admitted, according to police sources -- hidden himself in the bathroom. His wife then told the officers that he was not there, saying that she and her young son were alone at the residence.

The second incident was similar in that it started with an argument, but it culminated in a punch, according to the charges, when the running back struck his wife in the face. He also apparently threw a shoe, which hit his son, who was 17-months old at the time.

Cases like this show the twists and turns that a domestic violence incident can take, and people who have been involved in altercations like this need to know what legal rights they have.
